Srinagar, Nov 21 (KNO): The second day of the 2nd Edition of the CRPF Cup 2024 lit up the cricketing arena with another thrilling display of high-intensity matches. The action unfolded across three prestigious venues: Sher-e-Kashmir Ground B, Kashmir University, and SP College Cricket Ground, bringing together some of the finest cricketing talent in the region. As per the details gathered by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the tournament has already lived up to its reputation, showcasing fierce competition and remarkable performances. As teams battle it out, each match brings them a step closer to the much-anticipated knockout stages, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. At Sher-e-Kashmir Ground B, match number three featured MLA Gymkhana Budgam against Elegant Strikers. The first match of the day saw MLA Gymkhana Budgam take control, defeating Elegant Strikers by 74 runs. “Batting first, MLA Gymkhana set a challenging target of 157/8 in 15 overs, thanks to standout performances from Mohsin Manzoor (43 off 27 balls) and Suhail Paul (44 off 22 balls). Elegant Strikers struggled to keep up the pace and were dismissed for just 82. The bowling prowess of Junaid Bashir, who took 3 wickets for just 11 runs in 3 overs, earned him the Player of the Match award,” the details read. The second match, match number four, saw Dadoo Rangers face Kashmir University in a gripping encounter. Kashmir University posted a respectable 157/6 in their allotted 20 overs, with Saqib Reshi's brilliant 60 not out off 43 balls. However, Dadoo Rangers made a strong comeback, with Junaid’s blazing 45 off 16 balls steering his team to a memorable victory. At the Kashmir University venue, match number five pitted Kashmir Tigers Sonwar against Sangam Super Kings. Kashmir Tigers Sonwar emerged victorious in a tense battle, defeating Sangam Super Kings by 19 runs. After being bowled out for 161 in 19.1 overs, Kashmir Tigers held their nerve as Sangam Super Kings fell short of the target, ending with 142/9. Sahil Gulzar of Kashmir Tigers earned the Player of the Match award for his brilliant 4-wicket haul. In match number six, Batwara Sports Club faced Al Samad Cricket Club. Al Samad Cricket Club clinched a nail-biting victory in the final over against Batwara Sports Club. “Batwara posted a challenging total of 171/6, with Muzamil Feroz smashing a quickfire 53 off 24 balls. However, Al Samad CC’s Amir played a match-winning knock of 82 off 47 balls, ensuring his team secured the win with ease,” the details said. At SP College Cricket Ground, match number seven featured Srinagar Sultans Nishat against Star Light CC. In a high-scoring thriller, Srinagar Sultans Nishat registered a commanding 44-run victory over Star Light CC. “With an explosive 54 runs from Zeeshan Ali, Srinagar Sultans posted a formidable 200/5. Star Light CC tried to mount a fightback but fell short, finishing with 156/9. The win was built on solid batting and clinical bowling performances, especially from Aijaz and Irfan Farooq,” the details said. In the final match of the day, Ganderbal Gladiators faced Syedpora Warriors. Syedpora Warriors secured a dramatic 3-wicket victory over Ganderbal Gladiators. After Ganderbal set a modest target of 125, Syedpora chased it down with 13 balls to spare, with Aqib Dar’s 33 off 31 balls playing a crucial role in their successful chase.
